Merry Go Round (h)

“Jazz Suite II” by Shostakovich actually is Walz #2 from his Suite for Variety Orchestra (post 1956). The piece became famous by the soundtrack of Stanley Kubrick’s ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ movie as well as by its performance by the world famous (Dutch) Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Since Bill Haley’s “Rock around the Clock” is from 1956 as well, this Walz is not classical at all. To me, it always brings ’round visions’, of balls, things bouncing around and a merry-go-round going…

Mirror in Mirror (ch)

One day, we discussed reflections in 3D rendering. Those days, for some reason, car commercials with shiny cars driving though streets full of reflection glass panes and mirrors were quite popular on TV. Then some CD was issued full of chill-out tunes, and this number was played over and over on the radio: Spiegel im Spiegel (mirror in mirror), a New Age composition by Arvo Pärt (Estonia). This made the click, and inspired me to combine all of those in…

Good Morning Vue

my contribution to the e-on Vue Environment Competition, last summer. I especially like the sun reflections in the curved buildings.   Building blocks from Dystopia, objects from everywhere, lot of retexturing. Completion and Rendering required a 64-bit system due to memory requirements, and took 1 hour at 1024×820 broadcast quality (Vue Complete 9 – i7-990X @4GHz). The final version 7000×5000 took 48 hours. 1 I like This
